focus will be hosting their annual game of skate on sunday october 4th.

NEW PARK!

my buddy brandt and i got inspired the other day to design a few park layouts, because if we ever get the funds and space we think it'd be awesome to run a local park. here's our first ever skatepark design. sadly this particular design will probably never become a reality, but i'm really psyched about how well it turned out.
we'll have more ideas and hopefully one day we'll get to build our own park.
hope you enjoy.

viva la nick mullins

if you haven't caught on by now, nick mullins is my hero. i was checking out his filmer steve staffen and i managed to stumble upon his vimeo account, there's a lot of edits of nick, but i found this to be by far the most ridiculous. it is one of the oldest edits on steve's account and yet it is still beyond ridiculous.
if you're still wondering whether it's worth the few minutes of your time let me leave you with a few words...

nike drops the vunk!

i'm a bit of a nike fan, mostly due to their simple approach to skate shoes. they keep their selection of shoes steady, but always fresh with several new color waves each month. however my one problem with them has been their lack of vulcanized soles, they recently put out the janoski pro-model, but this is a very light weight shoe with almost no support. they finally took one of my favorite nike models, the dunk, and wrapped vulcanized sole around it while cutting down on the fat a bit. this is not from "nike sb" but it's a plain old nike. i plan on buying a few pairs, they will most likely hold a hefty price tag... but hey, who would have thought they'd ever vulcanize a dunk!

nick mullins update

this has been up for a while already on the berrics. although some of you have already seen this i still feel it is absolutely necessary that i post this up for anyone who may have not seen it. this is the most touching story i've heard in a while, nick mullins is an amazing person in every way. if you're not familiar with the story go to the berrics and watch the updates from the start.

madison hits the berrics!

okay so maybe it's not quite as gnarly as us locals were hoping for but it's still something.
while i was lurking on the berrics i noticed that among their many side bar ads was a particular i-path banner, a shot of fred gall skating madison's own library mall. it's exciting to know that such a great and famed skater snuck an ad in from our humble city.

site updates

we've added a playlist to our site, the music is mostly inspired by potential skate part/edit songs, that you may never actually hear in an edit from us because they were excluded. this way i feel you viewers will have a bit of a deeper view into the throwaway thoughts behind edits. it's also just nice to have some music on the page don't you think?

we've also added a view counter, i know the things look trashy but we've always wondered how many people visit the page, now we'll know. it started at zero when we added it so yes we've gotten more than just six or seven hits in the several months we've been up.

thanks for your time, come back soon.

nothing to be concerned about.

sorry for the lack of posts, we've been slacking a bit on gathering media. we're hoping to get you guys excited enough to send us your own material to post to the site, it would make the page exponentially more diverse.

in other news we picked up a new HD camera; so we'll be getting some sick edits done soon. if anyone would like to come film with us and maybe get some clips in an edit just shoot us an e-mail at gnarberry@gmail.com with some form of contact information so we can get you in on the session.

what in the name of all things gnarly?!

i'm sure most of you have already seen this on the berrics, but if by some chance you have not, be prepared to witness the gnarliest thing since moldy cheese. mike v's battle commander is potentially the grittiest, grimiest and most insane collection of footage i've ever witnessed.

nike p-rod 2

if you're looking for a pair, alumni boardshop on university avenue has moved the majority of their p-rod 2 models to the floor, i believe everything on the floor is 25% off. should be a swell deal if you're looking for a good pair of shoes at a low price, but i, personally, am going for the p-rod's.

blakeski

this guy, once known as lil' blake, has gotten pretty gnarly in the last year. i think it's time we remove the lil' from his title...

quick note, not all the skating in this video is blake, but 90% of it is.

I'm pretty new to this.....

Joe posted a little bio type thing about him so i thought i would also. My name is TJ Meadowcroft. I have been skating for a little over 2 years. To me, I CAN'T quit. I skate everyday. I am 16 years of age. I am holding down a Job at arby's. the one by 4 seasons of madison. I live on the north side of madison which is the worst side of madison to be a skater. The skate shop I get my skate stuff at would be alumni boardshop on the west side of madison. If you ever see me at a skate park it would be probably atwood skatepark. I usually skate the street of madison and mostly downtown area, which this year it seems to be dead. If you want to skate with me just hit me up on myspace and my URL would be www.myspace.com/pacmantj . I'm down to skate with anyone who is not annoying

what up world!

i've been seriously skating for about 2 years, but i've been pushing around on a board since i was in kindergarten. i've always been interested in the skateboarding culture and i've dreamt of going pro and being in the x-games and all that good stuff. the longer i skate the more i realize everyone skates for different reasons, some people just push around all day for the relaxation, some people use skateboarding as a system to vent their problems and throw themselves at huge stair sets and handrails mercilessly beating their body until they've got their anger out, and some people skate for the attention and the chance to go somewhere big. no matter what the reason, we all wake up in the morning and hop on the same basic thing, a multi-plied piece of wood, two metal trucks, and 4 wheels. i've decided to start this blog, mostly just to share some things in skateboarding that stick out for me, and hopefully put out some stuff from our local skateboarding scene (madison, wisconsin). i could ramble on but i should probably cut it short.
check the blog out frequently, we'll always have something new.
peace,
joe rose

there will be more people helping out with this blog but for now it's just tj and joe
have fun
